Greenbriar
Equestrian Centre's horsemanship programs
are open to all
children ages 6 to 17. The program is designed to teach children about
riding and horse care.
Whether your child is
new to horse
riding, or an experienced rider, Greenbriar Equestrian Centre
offers an educational, safe and fun atmosphere for your child.
Our highly structured programs
provide excellent training by skilled professionals,
such as our trainers. For those just learning to ride,
the student will learn how to handle themselves around horses, and how
to keep themselves and their horses safe.
For the more experienced rider,
the finer points of equitation and horsemanship will be taught.
In addition to daily horse care
and riding, students will learn about talking to, and approaching
horses, using "horse language", horse anatomy and psychology,
conformation, colors and markings, fitting and cleaning tack, feet and
shoes, mouths and bits, grooming and bathing, safety and first aid,
boots and bandages, feed and feeding, human first aid, show
etiquette, stable management, riding and jumping form. The majority of
the day will be devoted to the horses and horsemanship.
Periodic evaluations are made
to ensure that each student has the opportunity to advance as their
ability increases.
We also have lots of fun,
activities, and games are planned. These activities will vary according to
the students riding ability, (and the Florida weather!!), but will
include activities such as: Horse Sense, Carrot Bobbing, Scavenger
Hunt, Tack Test, Horse Bowl, Flour and Dime Race, Egg Race, Horse
Costume Day, Parents Day, Gymkhana and Tea Party.
On Friday, the last day of camp
week, we will have Parents Day with a Gymkhana and a Tea Party. Our
students will have the opportunity to demonstrate to their family and
friends all that they have learned at summer camp. Prizes and
certificates will be awarded to the students based upon their personal
achievements.
Campers must be picked up by
2
pm, unless prior arrangements have been made. An additional $10 per
hour, per student will be charged for students not collected by
2 pm.
Please provide your child with
a packed lunch, snacks, plenty of water and a change of clothes. A
microwave and refrigerator is provided for your convenience.
Proper attire is encouraged
(paddock boots, chaps and an approved helmet). If you do not have the
proper attire, it is recommended that you wear long pants and boots or
shoes with a heel. An ASTM/SEI approved helmet must be worn at all
times, no exceptions. We do have a limited number for loan. All
parents will be asked to sign our
Release on behalf of their child.
